Eficienta energetica – o provocare pentru viitor

The energy efficiency – a challenge for the future

Energy efficiency refers to the means whereby we can obtain the same benefit (illumination, heating, movement, etc.) using less energy.

In order to capitalize upon Romania’s energy efficiency potential, we need appropriate government policies. It is important to establish a minimum energy efficiency standard for houses, offices, cars, etc. which should reflect the consumption over the minimum operation time. Policies must be implemented to promote innovation and continuous improvement of energy efficiency technologies.

There is a significant potential to reduce consumption, especially in the most energy-consuming sectors, i.e. buildings, manufacturing industry, energy conversion and transports. At the end of 2006, the EU undertook to reduce the annual consumption of primary energy by 20% by 2020. In order to achieve this objective, the EU acts in order to mobilize the public opinion, decision-makers and market operators, as well as to establish minimum energy efficiency standards and labeling norms for products, services and infrastructures.
